Downtown

By far the citys most eclectic district, the Downtown area has become one of the most dynamic and trendiest places in Manhattan. Just a few things to enjoy are the renowned shopping district of Soho, the restaurants of Little Italy, and the nightlife in the East Village. Greenwich Village has long been a source of inspiration for young artists, actors and writers, and that tradition continues today with many off-off-Broadway playhouses, quaint bookstores, and independent coffee houses. The design of 40 Mercer Street marks the most avant-garde use of glass in a residential building in New York City to date.  The brainchild of Jean Nouvel and Andre Balazs, 40 Mercers exterior is composed of huge retractable panes of glass some of the biggest ever used on a residential project.  On the higher floors, residents will enjoy windows that can slide open up to 20 feet wide, using a key-operated motor.  Just some of the building amenities include an indoor 50-foot lap pool, a fully equipped fitness center, a steam room, a sauna and a private bar and lounge.
