Southampton

Southampton is known for its magnificent estates and quiet elegance. South of the highway has seven miles of oceanfront. Southampton’s streets are lined with galleries, brand name retailers, and local boutiques. Southampton has many ocean beaches. Coopers Beach is regarded as one of the best beaches n the country. Some of the most desired oceanfront homes in the world are located in Southampton.

Southampton is rich in history. The first English settlement in New York was in Southampton. The region was later named Southampton after the English home of many settlers.In the late 19th century, the Long Island Rail Road was extended to Sag Harbor and affluent New Yorkers began making the East End their summer vacation. This caused a building boom during the early part of the twentieth century. Large estates were designed and built and the Village of Southampton grew and prospered into what it is today.
